Sleep Toolbox app privacy policy
Effective date: October 6, 2026
This policy covers the Sleep Toolbox app for iPhone, iPad, and Android, made by Everyday Insight LLC. Here, “we” means Everyday Insight LLC. The mysleeptoolbox.com website has its own privacy policy at mysleeptoolbox.com/privacy.
The short version
Sleep Toolbox has no accounts, no ads, and no analytics. What you write stays on your device, or in your own iCloud or Google Drive if you turn on sync. We never receive it, and we can’t read it. Apple Health and Health Connect stay off unless you turn them on, and the app never keeps the sleep it reads from them.
What you write
Everything you create in Sleep Toolbox, including your diary, sleep window, worry times, wind-down routine, and check-ins, is stored on your device. It’s protected by your device’s own security, like its passcode and built-in encryption. The app doesn’t add encryption of its own.
About Sleep Toolbox
Apple Health and Health Connect. Sleep Toolbox can read sleep from Apple Health on iPhone and iPad, or from Health Connect on Android, and it can save your diary nights there. Both are off until you turn them on in Settings.
When reading is on, the app shows the sleep your watch or phone recorded as a separate line next to each night, and it can offer those times to fill in when you got into and out of bed, for you to check and change. The app reads this sleep fresh each time it shows it. It never stores, syncs, or exports what it reads, never uses it for your sleep window or your diary’s numbers, and never puts it in place of your own answers. If you fill in your bed times this way and save them, they become your own diary answers, like anything you type.
When saving is on, each night you save in the diary is also saved to Apple Health as time in bed, or to Health Connect as a sleep session titled “Time in bed, Sleep Toolbox diary.” That session covers your time in bed. The time before you fell asleep and after your final waking is marked as awake in bed, and the time in between is marked as asleep. If you change or delete a night, the app updates or removes what it saved. If you turn saving off, the nights already saved stay there until you delete them in Sleep Toolbox, Apple Health, or Health Connect.
The app never sends health data to us or to anyone else, and it’s never used for advertising. Apple Health and Health Connect are run by Apple and Google, and their own terms and privacy policies apply to what’s stored there.
Sleep check-in. The optional check-in asks the eight questions of the Sleep Condition Indicator. Your answers and scores are stored and synced like the rest of your diary, and they appear in the diary report when you make one.
What the app works out. Anything the app works out from your diary is done on your device. That includes each night’s numbers, Patterns, the weekly check on your sleep window, and your check-in scores. The app also checks what you type in the diary and in worry time for words about suicide, self-harm, or harming someone else, so it can show crisis lines. Nothing from these checks is stored separately or sent anywhere.
Sync, if you turn it on
Sync is off unless you turn it on in Settings.
iCloud on iPhone and iPad. Your diary, sleep window, worry times, wind-down routine, and check-ins are stored in your own iCloud account so they appear on your other Apple devices. They move between your devices and Apple under your Apple Account, and Apple’s terms and privacy policy apply to that storage. We can’t see it.
Google Drive on Android. The app asks Google for permission to use one hidden folder in your Drive, called the app data folder. It can’t see your other files, and it doesn’t receive your contacts or other account details. Your data is stored in that folder under your Google Account, and Google’s terms and privacy policy apply to it. We can’t see it.
Sleep Toolbox’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Device backups
If you back up your iPhone or iPad to iCloud or to a computer, that backup can include the app’s data, the same as for other apps. On Android, the app’s data is left out of your device backups.
What you choose to share
Apart from sync or a backup you turn on, your data leaves the app only when you export, share, or copy it. You can make a PDF diary report of one or two weeks to keep or to share with a clinician, and you can copy a night as text. Where a file or copied text goes after that is up to you and the app you send or paste it into.
Reminders
You can turn on reminders for the morning diary, worry time, your wind-down routine, and the weekly check on your sleep window. Each one is off until you turn it on. They’re scheduled on your device, so no message comes from anywhere else, and they never show what you wrote.
App lock
If you turn on the app lock, the app asks your device to confirm it’s you. On iPhone and iPad that’s Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode, and on Android it’s your fingerprint, face, or screen lock. Your device does the check, and the app never receives your biometric data. On iPhone and iPad, the app lock works only if your device has a passcode set. On Android, while the app lock is on, its screens are hidden from the recent apps view and can’t be captured in screenshots.
Siri, shortcuts, and controls
Siri, the Shortcuts app, the quick action on the app icon, and the Morning diary control for Control Center, the Lock Screen, and the Action button only open the app to the morning diary. So do the Morning diary shortcut on the Android app icon and the Morning diary tile you can add to Quick Settings. None of them read or send what you wrote.
Permissions
The app asks for permission to send notifications only when you turn on a reminder. On iPhone and iPad, it asks to use Face ID only after you turn on the app lock, the first time the app locks. On Android, it asks to use your Google Account only when you turn on sync. It asks to read or save sleep in Apple Health or Health Connect only when you turn on those settings. You can change these at any time in your device’s settings.
What the app never does
The app has no ads, analytics, crash reporting, or tracking of any kind. It doesn’t use your location, contacts, camera, photos, or microphone, and it works with Apple Health or Health Connect only if you turn that on. The app connects to the internet only if you’ve turned on sync, and then only to Apple’s iCloud on iPhone and iPad or to Google’s sign-in and Drive services on Android.
Links to other websites
Links in the app, like the ones to our website, open in your browser, where that website’s own privacy policy applies. The app doesn’t keep track of which links you open.
Email you send us
If you write to hello@mysleeptoolbox.com, we receive your email address, your name if your email includes it, your message, and any attachments. We use them to reply and to help with what you asked. Please don’t send us details about your health or a crisis. We can’t provide care, and we don’t monitor email for emergencies.
Selling and sharing
We don’t sell personal information or share it for advertising. The app doesn’t send us anything, so there is nothing from the app for us to sell or share.
Children
Sleep Toolbox isn’t meant for children under 13. If you’re under 18, use it with the involvement and permission of a parent or guardian. The app sends us nothing, so we don’t collect information from children through it. If a child under 13 emails us, we’ll delete the message once we learn of it.
Your choices
- Delete any night, worry time, or check-in in the app.
- Delete everything from Settings. It removes your diary, sleep window, worry times, wind-down routine, and check-ins, along with the nights the app saved to Apple Health or Health Connect. On iPhone and iPad, it also removes the copy in iCloud if sync has ever been on, even if you’ve turned it off since. On Android, if sync is on, it also removes the copy in Google Drive, then removes the app’s access to your Drive and turns sync off.
- Turn sync off in Settings. What’s on your device stays there. On iPhone and iPad, the copy already in iCloud stays until you remove it.
- To remove the iCloud copy, use Delete everything, or open your device’s Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, and manage the storage for the app.
- On Android, turning sync off asks whether to remove the copy in Google Drive, and removes the app’s access to your Drive either way. You can also remove the copy from Google Drive on the web. Go to Settings. In Manage apps, find the app, open Options, and choose Delete hidden app data.
- Turn off reading or saving sleep in Settings at any time. You can also change the app’s access in the Health app on iPhone and iPad or in Health Connect on Android.
- Deleting the app removes its data from your device. Nights it saved to Apple Health or Health Connect stay there until you delete them.
We don’t hold any of your app data, so there’s none for us to send you, correct, or delete. We keep email only as long as we need it to help you or to meet a legal obligation, and our email provider processes it for us. You can ask us to delete your messages, or ask anything else about your privacy, at hello@mysleeptoolbox.com.
Not health care
Everyday Insight’s tools are for education and personal reflection. They are not therapy or medical care, and they are not for emergencies.
Security
We build the app so your data stays on your device and in accounts you control. When sync is on, your data moves between your device and iCloud or Google Drive over encrypted connections. No method of storage is completely secure, so keep your device protected with a passcode and keep it up to date.
